[comp.sys.amiga] Q: How can I get the KeyMap w/o a console?

Hi,
Up until recently whenever I wanted the default keymap, I used the
CD_ASKDEFAULTKEYMAP packet on the console device.  Recently however, I
noticed that you can specify VANILLA on your IDCMP flags for a new
window and have everything work w/o having console.device available in
DEVS:.  Thus my question: How can I obtain the keymap w/o opening the
console?
