Ok, talk about rumours out of control! Since the cat's out of the bag on the new Amiga's, can we PLEASE get some facts about them. I can't wait to see the 2500UX, but can't help wondering what sort of limitations will be put on the system. Like, will we be able to run our favorite amiga programs under an amigados shell? Will we be able to easily write/test/run programs on the UNIX side which will run on the Amigados side? You know, cross development sorts of things? As for obsolesence of hardware, I can feel for the A1000 people, but you have to face the fact that NOTHING is permanent in this industry and both the good and bad get swept away with progress. I started with a TRS-80 and they stopped making it the year after I bought it. Now the chip that drove it is being used in controllers for disk drives! Then I got a pc/xt clone for over $2000 and was barely able to sell it after 2 years for $600! Hell, I'd be more upset but my new systems have been consistently better. What makes me happier is that at least with the new Amiga series you can take your peripherals AND software with you on your next machine! Lastly, there was a trade-in offer for A1000 users which was pretty decent thing on the part of Commodore. I never got a chance to do that with Radio Shack or IBM, and I haven't really heard of it happening from other companies with Personal computers... --j Disclaimer -- I'm a satisfied Amiga customer. ;-) -- jon wesener ... {seismo | harvard | ihnp4} ! {uwvax | cs.wisc.edu} ! astroatc!jojo "I say, why are those buildings swaying like trees?"
