My two cents on who bought the amiga when the price range was 1.5K. I did, and I would hardly call my self as having lots of money. Mostly, I was a college student trying to get a machine which was cheap, colorful, and would do my math graphics that I loved so much. I got it. I also got a machine which taught me an incredible amount about operating systems. What I did not get was what I really wanted, a machine which, as someone else had mentioned, would be completely upgradable. I don't care at this point, I can program it to do exactly what I want to do. Another comment to rack mounting 3 amigas. I like this idea, but someone had mentioned that the individual amigas would only have to take care of one bit plane. This is not true. 1 bit plane would allow only 2 colors, the background and foreground. If there were going to be 32 different shades of a single color (impossible by the way 4 bit color registers), then you would need the full 5 bit planes. If anyone gets this rack mount thing to work, let me know. Also, anyone know of a video board which will do 1024x1024x8 which will work on any amiga? -- Brian Moffet brianm@sco.com {uunet, decvax!microsof}!sco!brianm The opinions expressed are have no relation to my employers.
