I have a BMC BX-80 printer which is very nice but has been a pain since my C-64 days. The problem is support and printer drivers. It is very similar to some brand of Epson printer (setting programs to that printer driver usually worked), but not exactly. In the C-64 world I gave up and just bought programs that would work with it, e.g. Flexidraw (and Geos, sort of), and stayed away from programs that didn't (like print shop). On the Amiga, I suffered with horizontal white lines in the printout until getting PrtDrvGen, which, after a *lot* of work, enabled me to construct a working printer driver. The only problem with this is that the file is several times larger than a regular driver (like the Epson one I modified it from). On my crowded workbench disk this is undesirable. Is there a *real* printer driver out there for the BMC printer? If there is, I would appreciate information on how to get it. Having just read the latest issue of Amiga Sentry, I am drooling in anticipation of the 1.3 printer device, with its integer scaling, but I am worried. Will I be able to use it with my printer? Or will my obscure printer be left in the cold again? I don't have a compiler or assembler to make my own drivers, so I've got my fingers crossed. Does anybody "in the know" have an encouraging word for me in that reguard? Slower, blotchy (rescaled) output is better than output with white lines through it. . . . .
