[comp.sys.amiga] PVA, TOASTER, explanation

R38@PSUVM.BITNET (aka Marc Rifkin) (04/04/88)

Please realize that I am human and am subject to error.
From reading various magazines and talking to other hacks, I have found out:
PVA:
   24 bitplanes (16 million colors)
   Frame Grabber (1/60 a second)
   Frame buffer (generates graphics)
   Genlock (graphics over live video)
All sits in 1 A2000 exp. port and A2000 video slot
Resolution- not certain, probably normal amiga (w/overscan), should
be standard enough for programs that can support it to do so
TOASTER:
"Millions of colors" - best approximation
   Real time digitizer (frame grabber)
   Genlock
Real time image processing - DONE BY SOFTWARE, not by hardware!
Expandability- possibly add a TI video coprocessor for better graphics,
and also maybe a frame controller for a VCR

Both units start at about $800.
I hope I have cleared up somewhat the situation without a great
degree of error.|
