[comp.sys.amiga] Z

PHIL@UIUCVMD.BITNET (Phil Howard) (03/04/88)

Does anyone here have an Amiga program to unpack files with the .Z suffix
added? There are lots of these files around and I can't get them unpacked.
Source is nice to have, but I really need an executable binary.

Try compress. It is a Lempl-Ziv-Welch compression futility for
compressing/decompressing things. The .Z is characteristic of it.
I _think_ the compress with the news distribution would fix it, but don't
quote me.

Sorry I can reach the people that e-mail-ed me the quuestion but the answer
is :

As far as I know the only way to get Z (and any of the other UNIX-like tools
bundled with it) is by getting the MANX C compiler package. Please e-mail
...!well!manx for more info. I am NOT a spokesman for MANX.
