My apologies to anyone at Tektronics for that rather inflamatory title.
First... what I want:
I would be ever so grateful if anyone who has a manual for a Tektronics
graphics terminal (especially, the 4015, less especially the 4014, 4100,
less especially all the others) could possibly make a copy of it and mail
it to me.

Next... why you should do this.
I use DNET to communicate with CMUs computers from home. I used to use vt100
, sometimes I would use the version of vt100 with Tektronics 4014 emulation
and some funky unix filters to draw nice graphs at home (amazingly
enough, it is as fast at home at 1200baud as it is with xterm's 4015
emulation.
Anyway, now that I use DNET, it would be much nicer to have a tektronics
emulation which runs under DNET, so I can have lots of neat Tek and Text
windows all at once.
Not only that, but DNET removes the line errors which would occassionally
screw up my graphs (turning them into spider's webs (or perhaps they
weren't line errors, but bugs in vt100... anyway)
I have hacked together the tektronics emulation stuff out of Tek (the
version of vt100) and the DNET stuff out of FTERM, and it works .
Sort of. The tektronics emulation in vt100 was A) somewhat buggy (i.e.
rather incomplete) and B) although very nice, not quite as nice as Matt's
programming in FTERM.
Therefore, I have concieved a plan to replace the tektronics emulation
stuff from my program (ftek) with NEW tektronics code. Unfortunately,
noone at CMU has soiled their fingers with a tektronics terminal for
years (or, if they have, they aren't telling me). I therefore need
outside help. Since I'm doing this anyway, I thought I might as well
emulate as many Tektronics terminals as possible. That's why I have asked
for any and all manuals. I'd also consider doing emulations of plotters
and other brands of graphics terminals if people showed an interest.
If you send me a terminal manual, I promise (if you say you'd like me
too, and give me an email address) to send you early versions of this
software.
If you are posting me a manual, please send me email so I can post which
ones I am getting and avoid duplication.
Thankyou.
Michael

In article <1385@pt.cs.cmu.edu>, Michael Witbrock (mjw@f.gp.cs.cmu.edu) writes (among other things): > My apologies to anyone at Tektronics for that rather inflamatory title. We at Tektronix are pretty cool characters, rarely flapped by anything. In normal circumstances, we wouldn't have been inflamed by the "inflammatory title," but Michael spelled the name of our company wrong. NOW HEAR THIS!!! The way to spell "Tektronix" is T E K T R O N I X No "c", no "s". Isn't that simple?
