Here's another sorta silly question... But, how much do 2000's cost these days? Since Abel's stopped carrying them I havn't seen a price. Exactly how much would a 2000 (West Chester) w/1 Meg CHIP ram, two 3.5" drives, and a Analog RGB Monitor cost? Also how much do NEC multisyncs cost and are they easy to attach to the 2000? I have a 1000 now and am wanting to upgrade to the more expandable 2000. Thanx in advance. M.Resin Send all Mail to: backstro@silver.bacs.indiana.edu

From the prices I've been quoted, the above price is barebones without a monitor. With monitor I've heard around $1950. Still too rich for my blood, sigh. --j -- jon wesener ... {seismo | harvard | ihnp4} ! {uwvax | cs.wisc.edu} ! astroatc!jojo "I say, why are those buildings swaying like trees?"

With monitor I've heard around $1950. Still too |rich for my blood, sigh. For what it's worth I was going through some stuff and found my *original* A1000 system reciept (it is tax season after all), 12/28/85 A1000 with 512K of RAM, extra Drive and a monitor $1812.33. Adjusting for inflation that's $1960.22 (inflation of 4%). Today you get slots, a place to plug in an IBM PC compatible card, another 512K of RAM, and a battery backed up real time clock. All in all I think the 2000 is a damn good deal and would certainly buy one if I didn't already have my 1000. -- --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses. With 1M of CHIP RAM? Right now, probably billyuns and billyuns of dollars. Later, after the new Agnus is released, they'd probably run about $2K, the same as the current 2000's with 512K of CHIP and 512K of non-fast expansion RAM. >Also how much do NEC multisyncs cost and are they easy to attach to the 2000? Very easy to attach, somewhere around $600, and a waste of money until and unless you get the flickerFixer, have another machine you want to use it on (like a PC clone, or BridgeBoard with EGA card), or wait for the non- interlaced hi-res Agnus C/A has said is in the works. -- Michael J.
