Well I recently tried to post my first message to usenet. As far as I
can tell from the responses I received (none!) my message may not have
made out on the net. I do realize that the question I asked may be very
trivial and may have been covered many months ago. Another possiblity is
that nobody was able to get thru to my mail addresses. Regardless I
am posting this a second time looking for not only the information I
requested but also some kind of response to indicate that I do have
a path into the net and that my mail path is useable also.

Recently I have been attempting to write some simple utility type programs
and I have run into a roadblock. I would like to be able to change the
prompt in a window from an application program. The problem is that
from all the information I have you need a pointer to the window structure
to get at the structures needed. Specificly it looks like the structure
I want access to is in dosextens.h include file in the libraries directory.
I am using Lattice 4.0 for this work.
I tried using the system call to the prompt command but the change if it
actually occured (sure it did but did not see it in the cli window) reverted
back to the prompt that the cli window orginally had. I would like to be
able to make a change to the prompt have it remain changed when the program
terminates. Another item of information that I would like is the current
window parameters such as width and height.
I know that this can be done since I have the sd program written
by David Tingler. However it is in Modula II and I have little
experience with that language.
