[Sent to the generic amiga-relay ARPA list] A recent note mentioned possible connections between ARP and problems with the PRT device. This is interesting since a collegue here has a 2000 that has exhibited the same problem. Background info: I have a "CLI-disk" that I use on my 1000 all the time. I also use ARP. One of the self-developed (actually wife-developed...) program's I use regularly prints files to the PRT: device. On my system the printer is attached to the PAR: port. I have NO problems with ARP/PRT. My collegue JUST got his 2000. I copied my CLI-disk verbatim and gave the copy to him so he could get up to speed quickly. One of the (many) real differences between his machine and mine is that he has his printer hooked into the SER: port. He modified preferences appropriately. He HAS the problem with printing. His original Workbench copy allows printing without problem. Now, there are a number of differences between his machine and mine which also could come into play (I have 512K, he has 3.5M, etc). But the fact that another writer has the identical problem on a 1000 eliminates many as the possible root cause (for example, use of either the parallel or serial port, intrinsic differences between the 1000 and 2000, other hardware configuration, etc). Maybe memory size? Fast/Wierd/CHIP differences (where wierd is memory that ain't FAST and ain't CHIP but IS something else?) Any suggestions?
