I had to leave the BADGE meeting before the subject of processes was discussed. Was anything new or interesting brought up? If so, would somebody please post it? It sounded like he was going to answer some long-outstanding questions about how to pull tricks with processes... Also discussed was all kinds of stuff about adding disk drives to the Amiga, and how to use semaphores (probably a useful discussion for anyone who didn't have the advantage of a college OS course that covers such things; JimM gave him a pretty bad time by asking zillions of leading questions. Funny.) And a helpful hint about using multiple linked lists based on the Node structure (if your data structure starts with an array of Node structures, each used for linking in a different list) -- use the name field as a pointer to the beginning of your whole data structure, which is otherwise difficult to find from any random Node. I wasn't entirely clear on the context of this, but I'm sure it's useful *somewhere*. And finally, I came in just late enough to miss an opportunity to answer Leo's questions about why flickerFixer is broken. I'm reluctant to make Yet Another Post on the Subject unless absolutely necessary, but please note that all of us involved in these long term discussion are now more or less in agreement about the basic issue (Bryan, Hedley, Eric Cotton, Michael Farren, Harald and me, I think is the list of people). I also heard a rumor that Tom Rokicki is up to speed on the subject, although he hasn't been posting. So anyone who still doesn't see why there's any problem with fF could ask for a summary of the consensus of opinion from any of us via *email*.
