I know it's been discussed here about all the reasons NOT to use a digital RGB monitor with the Amiga. Well I want to use one as the SECOND monitor for my system. First, it's not a color monitor at all, but a Princeton Max-12 amber monochrome monitor with high (or maybe medium) persistence phosphors. It is a dual sync TTL monitor which can sync on the IBM standards for both monochrome and color monitors, so there is no problem there. Since I plan to use it for interlaced 50 line text screens and possibly with a CAD program in the future, it's lack of color is also no problem. But I do have a couple of questions concerning it's use with the Amiga: 1) I dug a 7404 hex invertor out of my miscellaneous parts box to use to invert the horizontal sync from the Amiga to make it compatible with the monitor. The question is do I take the power from the monitor or the Amiga? Would there be any problems in putting the chip inside the 23-pin connector hood and getting the power from the Amiga? There's plenty of room and that's where I'd prefer to locate the chip. 2) Is it possible to hook up BOTH the Sony color monitor I have AND the Princeton monochrome and just turn on the one(s) I want to use? Would (could) there be any problems created by this setup? Sorry to be so long-winded but I wanted to make sure I explained why I wanted to do this so someone doesn't just tell me not to bother. I've seen a digital RGB color monitor on an Amiga and I agree, it's not a pretty sight. Thanx for your help, UUCP: ....!crash!pro-charlotte!mikeg INET: mikeg@pro-charlotte.cts.com
