[comp.sys.amiga] Beating up my Workbench ?

More wierdness with workbench icons losing their names:

Well, this wierd problem where icons lose their names gets stranger.
In the "early days" I had never seen this behavior. It all started
around the time I got ARP v1.1, TxEd+ and conman. Ever since then,
the workbench periodically loses names underneath icons.

The real danger is that the un-named icons become VERY wierd. They seem
to turn into directories ?! If you close the window that contains the
broken icon, and open it again. It comes back OK.
But this is a serious bug !

In an attempt to eliminate the culprit, I quit using FastFonts (who I
suspected first because of it's purpose). The problem remains (sorry
about that FF). Then I took out conman. Still a problem.
All I'm left to get rid of now is TxEd+ and ARP, and I WON'T !
I need them too much. But I like the workbench even more....what am I
to do ? Does this happen to anyone else ?

I get the impression someone is clobbering some of the memory that
workbench is using. I've also seen some of the "info" fields of icons
get wiped out too. This is a scarey problem.
At this point in time I'm trying to use only programs I trust alot
for their safety and accuracy, but I'm still running into wierdness.

Developers: please test your software COMPLETELY with the workbench !
Let a person who always uses the workbench bash on it for a while !
