> I enjoyed Chuck Berry with George Thoroughgood and Stevie Ray Vaughn. > Carl W. Amport Naperville, IL. My god! What did I miss by not watching the Grammy Awards?! Did Berry, Thoro- good, and Vaughan (or any subset thereof) *play* together? Oh, wail, wail, wail! Are there any other Stevie Ray Vaughan fanatics out there in netland? SRV is one fantastic guitar player. What's strange is that last October, I heard his song "Pride and Joy" twice on WAAF (Worcester, MA) and that convinced me to get his first album when it came out. However, since then, I have yet to hear any of his stuff on the radio. WAAF did recently mention, though, that he's at work on a second album that should be out this summer. He also played as opening act for the Moody Blues (at least in Worcester) last fall. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard that he was doing that until the day of the concert, so I missed it. Considering how poor the reviews were on that concert, SRV probably showed up the Moodies. Does anyone know if he has done any other recordings (ie. small labels) besides TEXAS FLOOD? Or if he has played back-up for anyone else? Considering that the record blurbs call him "the legendary Texas guitarist", he must have had *some* previous history. --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC Maynard) UUCP: (decvax!decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian) ARPA: (decwrl!rhea!akov68!boyajian@Shasta)

Yeh, Stevie Ray kicks butt. He played the Keystone clubs here in the Bay Area last summer and tore them apart. I saw him in Palo Alto and was impressed. (I've always loved hard electric blues.) He plays guitar on David Bowie's last album, "Let's Dance", and I believe he makes the album. He's the brother of Jimmie Vaughn of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, or so I've heard several times. His bass player in Double Trouble is the same bassist who played with Johnny Winters on his first few albums back in the 60's. Can't hold those Texas blues boys down. Long live Freddie King!!! Or Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows? I haven't heard either of them on the West Coast but I know from mutual friends that they're still alive and doin' the thing back there.

I read in last week's "Austin Chronicle" that Stevie Ray Vaughan has a second album coming out soon. If you're r e a l l y crazy about him, you can also hear his guitar work on David Bowie's album "Let's Dance". Personally, I prefer his brother Jimmy Vaughan of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,seismo,ctvax}!ut-sally!riddle
