After downloading several .arc files from a bulletin board to my VD0: and then PKAXing one or two of them, a dir on VD0: will come up with VD0: has a read/write error. What is going on? Needless to say I copy everything from VD0: to more solid media before I start unarcing. This has happened twice now. Thanks for your help. Hal

I assume VD0: is ASDG's RRD? R/W errors on VD0: almost always mean RAM is full, even though VD0 is not. Of course it *could* mean you have some bad RAM, but I doubt it. If 'info' says you have space on VD0 but 'avail' says you ain't got no mo' RAM, you get R/W errors. If you have tons of RAM, make sure it's the right kind. If you specified a particular kind of RAM when you mounted VD0, it will only use that kind. ..Bob -- Bob Page, U of Lowell CS Dept. page@swan.ulowell.edu ulowell!page
