[comp.sys.amiga] CSA Highrise

arp@pdp.cs.OHIOU.EDU (John Gordos) (05/20/88)

The subject line says it all. Has anybody seen one
of these? Used one? I'd like to wait for the ASDG
2000'n'1 chassis (given CSA's problems with their 68020
card in stock 2000's), but everytime I call ASDG, they
say "10 - 12 weeks to prototype". It really sounds as
	though they've back-burnered the project.

So I'm considering the CSA Highrise. Recommendations?

Oh, sorry about the repost. Things are flakey at this
moment. And, please, post your replys. Mail is hosed
	as well.

I really hate to bad mouth a "high tech" product, but a guy in
the Northern Ill. Amiga Users group has one that has been a
real headache.... CSA said that its OK to buy ASDG? 's 8 meg
board and use it in the tower. He bought it and it didn't
work. After a lot of finger pointing is "seems" to be a lack
of ground plane or signal line noise within the tower interface.

CSA will try to fix it if he send them his system and LOTS of
money.....Anyway, the guy is bummed and forced to run with a
reduced amount of memory on his memory board. CSA may have fixed
their design problem, and it probably will work if you stick to
only their boards, But wouldn't it be simpler, safer, and cheeper
to sell your 1000 and buy a 2000?

DISCLAIMER: This is all second hand from a non-tech. user that has
a HUGE amount of hardware and money. He's thrown a lot of time and
money at this problem and finally given up.
