To clarify matters: McLaughlin hasn't played guitar synthesizer since about 1975. This was on the "Inner Worlds" album. He hasn't played electric guitar regularly since about 1979 or 1980. This was with the One Truth Band. He has played next to no electric guitar since then. (Only twice that I know of). He hasn't played with Billy Cobham since 1979 (on a tour with Jack Bruce and Stu Goldberg). He is the greatest living guitarist. He has played more styles of music than any other guitarist. (Rock, Indian, Spanish, Classical, Jazz, etc.) The bass player in the new Mahavishnu Orchestra is Jonas Helborg.
