Hi folks, this is my first posting (in a hopefully long series) to usenet and comp.sys.amiga, although I was at least lucky enough to "listen" to the net for some months in advance. I don't know if an (unformal) introduction like this breaks all net.rules but I believe that some background information about the guy/gal at the other end of the terminal really helps you forming a "picture" about him/her (I never thought Leo would look like this, until I saw photos of him in Ahoy (?), nice cape and hat, though ;-D). So here goes: Name: Christian Balzer, but I prefer "<CB>". Nationality: Terrestrial (but my passport says something like "German") Age: 24 (but it feels like 42 :->) Sex: yeah, sometimes <droll>. Profession: Boinger, also student of computer science (Informatik) System: B2000 (PAL), 2Meg additional FastMem, 2090 HD controller with an 20MB Epson and 70MB Micropolis 1325 (both ST506, running FFS). Software: 1.3 OS (gamma5 waiting for gamma7 or final release and KS-ROM), Lattice 4.0, PowerWindows 2.5, TxED+, DPaint, ALL Fish disks, I've additionally tested out nearly every piece of Amiga software there is, since I'm the quality evaluation department (kinda) of a large distributor. I'm an hopeless Amiga addict since the 23-Dec-86, the day one of the first 17 Amiga developer kits in Germany arrived at my place. You might contact me if you want: - to make a proposition for the PFRQ (Perfect FileRequester), my current project (which might even make it into 1.4...), a preliminary description will follow in an upcoming message, - some insight into the file system, - a very tedious beta-tester, - a translation from/to German, - PAL chips (it's actually only the Agnus) if ya can't get 'em over there, - somebody to talk about this fascinating (I didn't say perfect) machine. The Software Brewery (hint, hint) is a small group of local Amiga programmers. We constantly try to pay back all the goodies that we received from the Public Domain by producing the best PD software that we're capable of. :-D Our current list of software includes: - AmiCron, my version of the Amiga cron, which already found it's way to .binaries & .sources (Pat, I promise that I'll put a "newline" at the end of ALL my future files <boy, is this *nix shar stuff unstable...>) - AntiVirusII, a GENERIC virus checker (source submitted to C=A) that detects ALL kind of reset-resident viruses (including SCA & ByteBandit), but I'm sad to report that AntiVirusIV will be commercial, since we received an offer we couldn't resist (Damn capitalism). - RemLib, removes a specified library (if currently unused) or displays some information of all available libraries. - Warranger, sends a window indentified by its name to front or to back, WITHOUT selecting it. This is extremly useful in conjunction with AmiCron. Works on all screens, an enhanced version is to follow. - ListScanner, a nice little utility to display all the Exec lists. Kinda like xplor on Fish 73, but with no (known) bugs (like duplicate tasks). I'll upload the programs of public interest that didn't already made it here. I also mailed a disk with our newest creations to Fred Fish, so they might pop up on a forthcoming library disk. That's it, I really hope I didn't burn out the net with this rather long message, but looking at Matt Dillon's recent DMouse posting (nice job Matt, even for an Aztec programmer <JOKE!, dontcha flame me>) I rather doubt that. P.S. Could someone please email me the usenet address of R.J. Mical, that is if he happens to have one, I badly need to contact him faster than snail and cheaper than fone (thank you for enriching AT&T 8-}). P.P.S. I hope to meet most of you people personally at the AmiExpo in the windy city in July. There's a picture of me in _Ahoy_? I know one turned up in _Info_ (which John Foust must have snapped *eons* ago), but I know nothing about _Ahoy_. Geez, everyone seems to have a picture of me except me. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ Leo L.
