[comp.sys.amiga] Tick Tock Fast Clock

johnk@pro-pac.CTS.COM (John Krause) (05/27/88)

My clock in my 2000 seems to be picking up time. It has advanced about 10-15
minutes in about 1-2 months. Could someone please explain why and if there's a
fix?

Thank you in advance.

Mahalo and Aloha.

The 2000's clock can be adjusted via a trimmer capacitor. If you look at
the front of the motherboard next to the battery you will notice the capacitor
which has a yellow screw-like slot in it. You will find that turning it to the
right will slow the clock down, and turning it to the left will speed it up.
You can do this adjustment most easily with a "tweaking tool" that's readily
available at your local Radio Shack. When you turn the screw I'd recommend a
quarter turn to the right, judging from the amount by which it is off. You may
have to play with it a bit before getting it just right.

If you open the A2000 case, and look down towards the front center of the
motherboard, you'll see a little trimmer capacitor. It's probably yellow,
and sits right below the CPU slot. This adjusts the real time clock. Turn
it (with a small, jewelerish screwdriver, or a "tweaking-tool" if you have
such an item handy), clockwise to slow it down, counter-clockwise to speed
it up. If you're good friends with a jeweler, you can use the digital watch
calibration tool these guys have to calibrate it, otherwise, make a slight
turn in the proper direction, set the correct time, and repeat until accurate.
