[comp.sys.amiga] Subsystem questions

I like my Subsystem very much. I purchased the version with the
floppy drive installed for $395 from Pacific Peripherals directly, I
couldn't find anyone else that had it in stock. I tried to find one
for about a month and then gave up and paid the extra $35 and ordered
it from the company. The only problem I've had with it is that Marauder
does not know when there is a disk in the second drive. It always says
'No (destination/source) disk in dfx:'. In slot 1, I have the Overdrive
hard disk adapter (also made by Pacific Peripherals) it works great!
I've had problems with hard disks though, but of no fault of the
Subsystem or Overdrive. In slot 2, I have the Micron 2meg board and
it works just fine. The Subsystem has it's own power supply, so the
extra cards can be powered without overtaxing the A500's power supply.
If someone was looking to expanding their A500, I would suggest they
get the Subsystem. In the long run, it saves a lot of money and is more
flexable than buying things made for the A500. If you were to buy
something for the A500 it would cost anywhere from $75-$150 more than
the A2000 version because of the need for an enclosure and power supply.
An added benefit is that Pacific Peripherals is very helpful with
any problems that may arise. I've called them a few time for help with
my hard disk and they knew exactly what was wrong and what I needed to
do. If I can help you with anything else, let me know. Thanks for
asking.
