Well, I have been fortunate toi have worked with A-Squared's Live unit
since early 1986. We used a prototype to set up a security system with the
trailblazer 19,200 bps modems. The results, even with the early prototype
(#16) and old software were exceptional. 16 grey scales provided a very
clear picture that we could send from here to Calgary in less than 30
seconds! (That would be real time I think). The project died on the vine
for other reasons but that original prototype works just fine. We have
since received the newer commercial product for the 1000 and I have been
using it in conjuction with Pro Page from GoldDisk to assist in putting our
promotional material together as well as our club newsletter (the VIEW from
PaNorAmA, the Pacific Northwest Amiga Association).

There are a couple of programs that come with LIVE! that are very useful
such as Riffmaker (as the name implies) and playriff. A riff is a series of
still frames that when combined provide animation. With my 2 meg Comspec I
can create a riff using the LIVE! software that has up to 56 frames! To
play it back I simply load it into Playriff and (P)lay it.

The main drawback with LIVE! is that it does not handle colours anywhere
near as well as Digi-View so I would recommend getting both units as they
are relatively inexpensive compared to the Incredibly Boring Machines
peripherals.
