Hi,
I have something to say to all the XENON fans who never get past the
first sector...BUY AN "AUTOFIRE" JOYSTICK, and modify it!!!
In many autofire joysticks, there is an oscillator which uses a
555 IC, some capacitors and 2 resistors. The 2 resistors determine
the aspect of the outgoing "fire" signal, and ITS FREQUENCY. I think
that the greater their value is, the higher the frequency will be. So
if you have such a joystick, just replace them with 2 potentiometers
(e.g. 1kohm resistor -> 4.7kohm pot (i don't know about the standardised
values))and you can adjust the frequency. If you increase it too much,
the software won't follow! It's fairly easy to find the ideal settings
for every game.
If you proceed so, you should be able to go through the 4 sectors (and
the 8 monsters!). YES, IT'S POSSIBLE, I DID IT!
