Here is our monthly vd0: refresher course.

Vd0: will fail if you cause it to use both FAST and CHIP memory.  The
most common way to do this is to specify an X-megabyte vd0: when you
have just X megabytes of FAST mem, and then try to fill it up.  This
fails because the operating system eats up several KB of FAST mem on bootup.
