If you don't care for any Amiga advertising press 'n' now... Just picked up the Ottawa Citizen, our daily paper, and lo and behold on page C12 (back page of section C) was a full page colour ad for the Amiga. It's hard to describe but I'll try: Top of the page says in large print: A true assessment of the Commodore Amiga 2000 can only be achieved when measured against the competition. Below it is a picture of 2 monitors, on is labelled: Commodore the other Competitive 68000 Microcomputer. Both show a picture of a hand using gray scale, the Amiga screen has a yellow-orange background with a blue grid while the other screen is only grey scale and black and white. The the comparisons start: Graphic Capabilities: Amiga vs The Competition No other computer in its price range comes close to the Commodore Amiga for colour graphic capabilities. High resolution graphics with sixteen true, on screen grey scales and up to 4 096 spectacular colours let you effectively convert your business data into diskette, print, colour slide or video. Desktop Publishing (two docs shown, one in colour, the other B&W. The caption reads: The monochrome competition pales by comparison) Amiga vs The Competition The Commodore Amiga is the only computer in this price range that offers four-colour separation capabilities. And the Amiga continues to set new standards in this constantly growing field. It lets you create professional reports, catalogues, brochures and magazines with four-colour separations, right on your desktop. Integrate text with IFF/bitmapped graphics, digitized images or strucutred graphics like CAD/CAM diagrams and graphics (1 200 - 2 400 dots per inch) on Linotronic typesetting equipment. The Commodore Amiga is your solution to high-quality colour and black and white print production. The Commodore Amiga 2000 software is compatible with the Amiga 500. Desktop Video (An Amiga screen is shown but the competition is a N/A) Amiga vs The Competition (this is getting kinda redundant ...) Forget about high-priced outside suppliers. With the Commodore Amiga you can produce your own high-quality corporate, sales and promotional videos with breathtaking graphics, classical or 3D animation and four channel stereo sound. Add an optional genlock and you can superimpose Amiga graphics over any video source -- live or taped. No computer in its price range can give you the power to produce high-quality business vieos like the Commodore Amiga. Multitasking (An Amiga with 3 screens (not windows) pulled down over one another, the competition is a N/A) Amiga vs The Competition (last time I promise) The Commodore Amiga is the ultimate productivity tool. We're the only computer in this price range that lets you work on several programs simultaneously -- not just display them. Read a report, analyze stock figures, write a memo -- even while printing a document. With an optional bridgeboard you can run both MS/DOS and Amiga software at the same time. Soon, add even more versatility to your Amiga with the powerful UNIX (tm) operating system. A picture of an Amiga 2000, colour screen and mouse and: Only Amiga makes it possible. If this has been a bit long I apologize. However, from the chatter on the net I seem to have picked up worries that Commodore wasn't ever going to advertise again (at least not til Christmas). Well, they've advertised, at least in the Ottawa area. Eugen Bacic (using a friend's account) EMBacic@Carleton.BitNet jc@sce.uucp
