To address two different posters on related subjects: (1) Most 16mm movie cameras have single frame capabilities. (2) Using a telephoto lens is another method to get rid of/reduce distortion. No need to buy an expensive monitor, just a 16mm camera with removable/telephoto lens (i.e., expensive...). A couple magazines (alas, I forget which two (BYTE and Amazing Computing (Amiga World?)?)) "recently" had articles on photographing CRTs (still pictures, but that IS what's being photographed, no?). They had LOTS of useful info on all sorts of things such as exposure speed, aperture, environmental conditions, etc. It is worth the time looking these up if screen photos are desired. (one of the articles mentioned the telephoto-lens trick...it also had the best photos illustrating it).
