I had an idea that's been echoing in my head for almost a day now. Why doesn't Commodore-Amiga come out with an Amiga 500+. You know how the Mac+ is to the Mac? How about an Amiga 500 with and internal 3.5" hard drive intead of a floppy drive. It would make the Amiga 500 one hell of a MIDI machine, making it one of the most powerful and yet simplest to set up. The 3.5" floppy drives could be optional, but you'd be silly not to get one. Currently, the limitation against this is that power supply is pretty limited, but if that can be worked around, a auto-configed/auto-boot ST506 controller could probably be made with about 10 chips or less. And I'm pretty sure people can live with only 3 floppy drives if they have a hard drive. The only limitation I can think of is the power supply. But the sealing of the floppy slot would even make it easier to get past the FCC. Does anyone have some thoughts on how to do this with the current Amiga 500's? -Paul Dickson ARPAnet: Dickson%pco @ BCO-Multics.ARPA [Maybe I'll be able to sleep this morning...]
