For those who have been following my expansion RAM difficulties, the problem has been fixed. I called up ASDG, and the technical support person had me talk to Perry K. about the problems. Perry asked if I had done the PAL grounding modification, which I had. That didn't fix it. All memory tests said that the extra 2 megs were fine, but I would get Guru's on boot up, and general flakiness. I told Perry that my A1000 was one of the really old ones, and he suggested that he send me a Mini-Rack D to test out, instead of the C that I was using. The D buffers the signals before sending them to the Zorro I boards, whereas the C does not. So about a week later, the Mini-Rack D came via UPS, at no expense to me, and I tried it, and it worked. I haven't encountered any problems since then. I called up Perry this morning, and he said that I could ship the Mini-Rack C back to him, and include a check for the difference in price between the C and the D. Sound reasonable? I think so. I am very pleased with the service I have received from ASDG, and just wanted to give the net a positive report. -- Glenn Lewis -- glewis@cit-vax.caltech.edu
