This is a small flame related to multiple postings of an article. Would those of you out in Net-land please try to refrain from posting the same article more than once? Having a second, identical/almost identical posting of an article to the same group is a bother to read, especially at low modem speeds, and doubly so since from the date stamp it may appear to be a second article on the subject. In addition, it increases the amount of stuff which has to be transmitted (although that per se is not of concern to me personally). The most recent example of this is utzoo!laura's article on signing articles (no personal attack intended, Laura). I assume that the second posting (which has marginally different wording, and occurred ~15 minutes after the first) was prompted by some apparent failure on the part of postnews, inews, or whatever flavor of article progenitor is currently in use. Before re-posting an article, could you check to see if it has indeed made it? (That "you" was intended in the plural, global sense.) This would save us time, transmission costs and storage. One final flare-up before I turn off the gas: Could people watch the 80-character line length stuff? It's a bit annoying to lose a couple of words per line in an otherwise interesting article. For those of you who already do all this stuff, I apologise for making you sit through this - we all have our pet peeves. Kevin Hunter houti!kdh (houxg!houti!kdh)

I have noticed some "double" postings that are exact duplicates. Those that I have noticed have had the following path configurations: 1) ...!decvax!duke!harpo and 2) ...!decvax!harpo This is from memory and may be slightly off, but as I recall, harpo was listed once without duke and once with duke. Could this be an instance of double polling and not double posting? Dave Johnson BTL - Piscataway
