[Are lineeaters at the top of their food chai Found this interesting quote on the great Japan vs. Feds DRAM debate: (Reprinted without permission from Digital News, June 13th, an article entitled "DRAM Crisis: DEC Boosts Prices") [skipping several paragraphs of bitching and moaning about RAM prices, you're welcome..] Many in the industry have accused IBM, which is the only U.S. systems manufacturer that has its own captive RAM production, of contributing to the current crisis. "IBM and DEC were the only two [systems companies] consulted by the U.S. government - and IBM said, "Great idea", " said a purchasing manager at a company that buys vast amounts of RAM. [skipping the remaining paragraphs of bitching and moaning about RAM prices, you're welcome..] Not that I want to encourage another Gbytes' worth of discussion on this, but- would IBM do a nasty thing like engineer a chip shortage? Nahhhh... Encourage one? Capitalize on one? Wellll.. Gotta go, think I hear the Big Blue death squads at my door! :) Bruce death before disclaimer <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <>Handle: Bruce Bettis USnail: University of New Orleans <> <>BITnet: <BEB@UNO.BITNET> Computer Research Center <> <>Voices: (504) 286-7067 New Orleans, La. 70148 <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
