[comp.sys.amiga] GVP "Impact" hard drive controllers?

blgardne@esunix.UUCP (Blaine Gardner) (06/16/88)

Does anyone own one of the Great Valley Products hard drive controllers
for the Amiga 2000?

GVP's "Impact" hard drive controllers combine a DMA, autoboot, SCSI hard
drive controller (no ST506) with a one or two megabyte RAM expansion
on one card. I've seen their ads in the magazines the last couple
of months, and the combination of SCSI hard drive controller and RAM
expansion on one card sounds pretty attractive. Most attractive of all
is the price. They have two models, one with space for 1M of 256K x 1
chips, and another with space for 2M of 256K x 4 chips. The 1M contoller
lists for $325, and the 2M version for $360.

I've talked to then on the phone, and they seem to know what they are
doing, and have a lot of confidence in their product. But I'd like to
hear from anyone that actually owns one. I'd especially like to see some
benchmark times that can be compared to the A2090, Cltd, Supra, and
other controllers.

If you e-mail me I WILL summarize and post to the net.
