The second source code release of PDC is available for FTP. This release is much more stable than the first, with (I think) an improved working math library, AND!!! the start at source level debugging support. I've gotten PDC to generate STABS and STABN directives that dbx needs and they seem to work for small programs (unfortunately not for large ones yet :-( ). I'm not sure how far to push this area of development until someone else (not me :-) ) ports a subset of gdb+ to the amiga. It may turn out that a different debugging format is what is needed, more on this later. More added features are: compile from stdin to stdout, unsigned integer hooks, structure assignment ( ? : ) works, annotated assembler files with source code, and much more... So if someone wants a start at a C cross-development environment or wants to help with the amiga port, or contribute library routines I all ears. As a start to this I'm putting the current source code (all 1.3 meg, or 479k compressed) up for anonymous FTP. Could some of you who have either Manx or Lattice C for the amiga look in your manuals and send me a list of the diferent options available from the command line. This might give me a few ideas of things that are missing from PDC and would be nice to add. The code seems to be a lot more reliable now so you don't have to be QUITE as desparate to attempt to use it now. The file name is /pub/amiga/CrossDev2.tar.Z 192.5.69.1 a.cs.uiuc.edu If you do get a copy by FTP could you send me email saying so, this would help me to determine if it's worth the effort to release the code to the CrossDev system for FTP access. If you find any problems with the code 1) Fix the problem your self and mail me the patch. 2) Or else, Send me the smallest code fragment that causes the problem and I'll either fix the problem or add it to the BUGS list. 3) Or, Just sit on it and don't tell me, and by telepathy I might discover and fix the problem myself (not recomended). -------------- University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Center for Supercomputing Research and Development UUCP: {ihnp4,uunet,convex}!uiucuxc!uicsrd!petersen ARPANET: petersen%uicsrd@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu CSNET: petersen%uicsrd@uiuc.csnet BITNET: petersen@uicsrd.csrd.uiuc.edu
