Regarding the new 1.3 Autobooting devices... Couldn't you autoboot using 1.2? If you think about it, that's what a virus does, correct? If there is a WB disk in DF0: upon bootup, it will infect the disk, and if not, _it will show that "Your Amiga is alive" message_. Now, instead of printing the method, jump to a subroutine that would simulate the autoboot process. Is this feasable? Yeah, wouldn't it be possible to have a floppy preboot that performs the same startup for the hard disk as people with 2090A controllers will get from their ROMs? It would only have to do a couple dozen K of floppy I/O at most versus having to load the workbench, do a startup sequence including mount, loading the driver &c &c &c -- -- uunet!sugar!karl
