Folks, don't believe everything you hear. The 2000 *is* compatible with the 500. The 2000 is *not* screwed up. I've been running my 2000 quite happily for a long time, with a 2090 and SCSI drive (half-height wren III). I did get R/W errors when using, and *only* when using, 4 bit plane high-res screens. All the rest of the time I had no problems at all. (Does anyone know how to make Professional Page use less than 4 bit planes?) Anyway, Commodore has fixed the problem, but I don't know how long it will take to become available. About memory expansion, no, there is no easy way to expand the motherboard to 8M; it needs to be on an expansion card. The speed of the chips required depends on the memory board design, but usually 150ns are plenty fast enough. And faster chips don't make the board perform any better. -tom -- /-- Tomas Rokicki /// Box 2081 Stanford, CA 94309 / o Radical Eye Software /// (TAMU EE '85) (415) 326-5312 \ / | . . . or I \\\///Join CCFFAALW---Concerned Citzens V | won't get dressed \XX/Fighting For An Acronym-Less World
