I am finally going to get myself a hard disk, and have a chance at getting a Priam EM230 (230 MB) hard drive at a good price. It is a self-contained (external) SCSI HD. The only problem is that I am not sure about compatibility with my SCSI controller (Microbotics starboard attachment). The Priam is advertised in the June '88 MacUser along with a couple of other brands. Does Anybody have experience in using Mac-compatible SCSI drives with the Amiga? -Matt

Matt, *EVERY* Mac-compatible HD I've seen so far has been identical to the systems I've built for myself and friends (e.g. Adaptec 4000A (MFM) or 4070 (2,7 RLL) SCSI translator card, and an ST506/412 drive (e.g. Seagate ST251, Miniscribe 8438, etc.)) And the DB-25 SCSI port on CBM's own A2090 HD controller card will handle any Mac-compatible drive. Gee, did you miss the talk I gave at BADGE several months ago? If you have any questions, feel welcome to get back on BBS-JC where either Art Walker or I will answer your questions (since you're in the area). Thad

Has anyone had experience with the MAX Hard Disk Construction Project from Palomax, Inc.? Since everyone seems to be comparing hard drive systems I thought this would be the time to ask. Also, does anyone think the Segate 277R 63MB 40ms drive would be any good? Should I consider getting a faster drive now that the FFS system will be out soon in AmigaDOS 1.3 (hopefully soon)?
