[comp.sys.amiga] Dpaint

I don't know if you people have noticed, but a lot of (previous) Amiga
software publishers have defected over to the dark side of the force -
the Mac ][. Lured, no doubt by the high entry price of the ][ (7-15K)
they no doubt think they can make a fortune.

As somebody pointed out, whereas they are the top dogs in the Amiga
world, they will be just small fish in a big pond in the Mac world.

Byte by Byte has pulled out of AmiExpo, and, hearing this, Aegis
has pulled out too. They are going to MacWorld instead.

MicroIllusions is apparantly losing money and has pegged it's hopes
on a Mac ][ version of Photon Paint.

Now in infoworld, I read:

``FIRM WORKS ON MAC II COLOUR PAINT PROGRAMME

Electronic Arts Inc. said it is working on a colour paint programme
for the Mac II, which it expects to release in late September.
Called Studio 8, the $495 programme is being designed for graphics
professionals, according to Electronic Art's spokeswoman
Charlotte Taylor. The program will compete directly with Supermac's
Pixel Paint programme.

The company's earlier attempt in the paint market, called Deluxe Paint,
was intended only for amateur graphic artists, Taylor said.''

To paraphrase Kerry Zimmerman: ``The difference between an amateur
and a professional is the price of their tools.''

Also, a colour PostScript 4000 line film recorder was announced in the
same issue.
