I'd like to add to the comments made by others about The Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight. (1) It is not copy protected! This has got to be the first EA game I've seen like this. If you want to install BTII on your hard disk, to the directory "hard-drive-dir", here is a framework for doing so. Copy BARDSDK: hard-drive-dir ALL [Eject your disk BARDSDK, put something else in.] cd hard-drive-dir copy fonts Fonts: ALL Delete s devs l fonts ALL (They are now redundant) Makedir Characters Copy Members Characters ALL Setup done! To play, type: Assign BARDSDK: hard-drive-dir Assign "DESTINY KNIGHT CHARACTER DISK:" BARDSDK:Characters hard-drive-dir/bard For some reason, my A1000 sometimes crashes after I exit BTII (on my hard disk) and then try a "cd" or "list". I haven't tracked it down yet... it asks me to insert volume "Usr" (my volume name for partition dh1:) and then crashes when I click on CANCEL or RETRY. (2) Even though there is no copy protection, I tried copying BTII with MarauderII. Guess what? Marauder (Brain file 10) produced a DEFECTIVE COPY. I booted on my Marauder'd copy, chose "Add member", added a member, then clicked on <CANCEL> to stop adding members. This put me in an infinite loop between the member list and an error message saying "That member is already in the party <CONTINUE>". Needless to say, my original copy works fine, and so does the one I made with DiskCopy. (3) There is a small, correctable problem I encountered when importing a Bard's Tale I character into BTII. When my character (a monk, level 20 or so) first fought, he fought like a total wimp, scoring only 9-30 points of damage per melee round. The solution was to take him to a BTII Advancement Board. They bestowed one level of advancement on him, and then he started hitting for 200 points of damage per round. I recommend that you take your BTI characters to a BTII Advancement Board immediately after you import them, or you might be in for some wimpiness in battle!
