Does anyone out there have a WORKING copy of XICON? I've lifted two different copies of this program from the fish archives at uiuc and the Purdue archives, and they both fail in the same way: The window opens without the close gadget, and the program hangs. Has anyone successfully run XICON obtained from either of these sources, or discovered an interaction with some other utility that causes this behavior? What I said basically was -- "Sorry you're having problems". I don't know of any interaction with anything else that could cause trouble. If there's no close gadget it's just possible you have Xicon 1.00 (from the early Fish disk), which had no close gadget; in that case ctrl-C would get you out. If you can't get a working version of Xicon 2 -- AND we can find a mail path that works -- I can send you a uuencoded ARC file of most of the package. It's also available by anonymous ftp from ucbvax here, if you can reach it. [Can anyone tell me how to pass that on to Purdue? I'll do so if possible.] -- Pete --
