I recently ordered a modem and other stuff through Micro Computer Services in Michigan, and am throughly dissatisfied with them. I'm the type of person who, upon ordering something, wants it ASAP, so I asked if they could ship UPS next day air, but they said no. Okay, so it would be shipped normally (which would take five days). I called a couple of days later to recomfirm the order, and found it hadn't been shipped yet. "We've been having some problems with credit card orders, so we're taking extra precautions to ensure no problems," they said, explaining the delay. "The order should be processed within a week." Calling them a week later, I found the order had been processed on the 29th of last month. Fine. Six days later and still no delivery. Calling them up again, I was informed that the delay time between invoicing the order and actually shipping it out was at most two days, so I could expect it no later than then. Two days later and still no shipment. Tomorrow I'm going to call them and cancel the order. Several weeks later and lots of lengthy phone calls to their service department (during the costliest phone rate to a non-800 number) which were due to extremely long holds they put me on and no service. Another thing they "sting" people with their shipping rate--they ship via UPS (the cheapest way to send things I know of) yet charge 10% of hardware's cost. $50 to ship a memory card? Get real. On another note, I really like RSIS. They use an 800 number for both ordering and customer support, have the lowest price on a 2000 I found ($1400) and when I asked them to ship next day air, they proceeded to do immediately that. You forgot to mention MCS's frequent "Oh, you need to order several $10 ribbons with that printer to get that price listed". Thanks guys.
