I got a couple of requests for more info on the Complete Answering Machine (CAM), an add-in card for the IBM. (I know this is an Amiga group, but here's where the question came up, and I'll keep it short.) The rather extensive review that I read is in the May 88 Computer Shopper. CAM digitizes incoming and outgoing messages and stores them on your hard disk. It is capable of keeping separate mailboxes, for instance one for each person in the office, or one for personal, and others for various business matters. You can leave personal messages for specific people, who retrieve them via a code number. It has a Personal Dialer feature which dials frequently used numbers for you. You can instruct CAM to relay your calls to another extension rather than taking a message, if the caller desires. CAM will also call you at a designated number to deliver your messages if you enter the password when prompted. In the same manner you are able to instruct CAM to call a series of numbers at a designated time and date. All of this can take place while you use your computer for other things. [Cynical Amiga comment: "Look, Ma, it thinks it's multitasking!"] The review was extremely positive. (It ended with "If I had a small business that kept me on the road during the day you would have to beat me with a stick to keep me from using CAM!") The Complete Answering Machine is marketed by The Complete PC 521 Cottonwood Drive Milpitas, CA 95035 (408) 434-1048 -- I have no affiliation with The Complete PC, not even as a customer. I just read the review. -- ------------ Eric Kennedy ejkst@cisunx.UUCP
