[comp.sys.amiga] I've Got the Screen Offset Blues.

This must be a common problem, which means there must be an easy answer,
right? What do you do when a game comes up with a non-centered screen?
I have two games with this problem, one is Sidewinder, by Arcadia and
the other is Marble Madness. The problem is so severe in Sidewinder that
the score is completely off the bottom of the screen.

Unfortunately these games must be booted off of to be played, so I can't
use Preferences to adjust the screen. Sidewinder does have a
startup-sequence, which I edited to allow an opportunity to use
Preferences, but once I started the game up, the screen went back to its
favorite off-center location.

Any suggestions?

I don't have any problems reading the score on Sidewinder, but you do not have
to boot the game in order to play it. Just execute the startup-sequence from
CLI. I like to put Sidewinder in ram: and run it from there -- no disk
accesses between levels. Also, if you have any fast RAM, run FastMemFirst
before running the game. You will get a noticeable boost in speed.
As for Marble Madness, Marauder will remove the copy-protection. Then you can
run it from Workbench.
