We are in the market for a printer to hook up to our VAX. As long as we have a few bucks, we'd like to get something with both high throughput and reliability. Minimum requirements are to print at least the full 96 char ASCII character set, RS232 interface, uses X-ON/X-OFF for flow control (a must!), capable of handling 16 inch wide 11 inch long fan-fold paper, quiet (if possible). Other niceties would be such things as hardware tabs, cartridge ribbon, replaceable print head (if applicable). I've looked at a number of printers (and have just about OD'd on salespeople). Two that look promising are the Printronix line (P150, P300, P600) and the Florida Data OSP120 and OSP130. Anyone have experience with either of these models ? Also, if you have used/bought/been involved with another printer that meets the general requirements, I'd appreciate hearing about it. P.S.
