last night I heard a new(?) version of this little tune...The music was unmistakable, but the words were in German (!). Apparently, Nina Haagen (maybe only 1 a?) did it a while ago, the person on the radio said it was done in 1978. For those who don't know, Nina Haagen is East German (I believe), did not have anything to do with 99 Baloons, and has been getting a fair amount of air play out here (on KQAK at least) with her "New York City" song. She has a rather distinctive vocal style, to say the least. The question here is "name that tune!" The lyrics (my memory is kinda sketchy) have the lines: ...airplanes go too slow, 'cause I'm a jet fighter, having a good time and are sung by a female singer, well that's about it, any clues out there? -- Ken Shoemaker, Intel, Santa Clara, Ca. {pur-ee,hplabs,ucbvax!amd70,ogcvax!omsvax}!intelca!kds
