[comp.sys.amiga] Virus stuff

Gentlepeople,

I've seen the items about the virus situation, most notably from Mark Riley.
I disagree with you guys (everyone has their opinion). I feel the virus
writers will continue to write virus programs no matter what we do or don't
do. I think these people have destructive tendencies and aren't at war
with the virus protector writers. I feel they're at war with each other.
I think they're trying to outdo each other to see who can get the most
penetration and publicity.

Mark wrote about getting the virus. Well, I've got a story for you. I may
be the only person this happened to, but my scenario is different than what
you think about getting the virus. I bought a hard disk. It was in use in
the store. I got a good deal and had just been screwed by MCS so I wanted
to get it locally and it was the only one I could find. I went to the store
saw it in operation and bought it. I left the original work bench in the box
and used their copy. I started loading floppies like they were going out of
style. Guess what was on their work bench, that's right the SCA virus.
Fortunately for me I'm an old computer hack (from back when that was a
complementary term) and never write enabled my store bought disks.
I've never gotten a virus since, and I hadn't had one before that.

I'm not chastising (is that England spelling?) anyone just stating a
different point of view.

Ran
