Amazingly enough, a management-type guy came to me today and asked what sort of computer I would like on my desk, since we are getting away from the mainframe world. He started talking Mac II and PeeCee, I naturally suggested Amiga 2000 w bridgecard. Even more amazingly, he said `Hey sounds kinda neat'. Since we have a few Mac II's and a lazerwriter here talking via appletalk, the question came up "Can the Amiga 2000 speak appletalk?" I naturally replied `HellifIknow'. THerefore I pose the question to the net: Can the Amiga be networked into an Appletalk network? I seem to remember hearing that there are TCP/IP boards for the Amiga. Is there a way to bridge from a TCP/IP net to appletalk? In general, what sort of ethernet (or IEEE 802.3) connectivity (hardware, software) is available for the Amiga? Please EMail replies, if you develop this sort of hardware I would appreciate some info. Maybe we will buy some Amys and stuff... when the local dealer came back from ... er ... COMDEX (?) (That show in Atlanta last spring) ... he was talking about TOPS boards being available for Amiga's (Real Soon Now back then probably means that it's on the shelves right now, but is still version 1) TOPS interface means appletalk ... at least that is what my memory is telling me. I'm sure that if I'm wrong a thousand people will all jump up and down and say so -- hopefully *they*'ll be right! -- <---- David Herron -- The E-Mail guy <david@ms.uky.edu> <---- ska: David le casse\*' {rutgers, uunet}!ukma!david, david@UKMA.BITNET <---- Problem: how to get people to call ...; Solution: Completely reconfigure <---- your mail system then leave for a weeks vacation when 90% done.
