[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga-Usenetters

joe@amie.UUCP (Joe Hitchens) (08/06/88)

You know, it might be interesting to know just how many of us are
reading/sending mail/news on their Amigas.
I know Dan Schein is, and I know I is (amie, fr., pronounced aw-MEE! :-)).
I have been doing so since March.
How many others are there out there, I wonder?
j.h.

There'd be at least ONE more if *I* knew how to go about it. Is the s'ware
PD, shareware, commercial, or what? Where does one get it, and how does one
go about getting connected to the Net once one's Amiga is ready? I'm going
to be moving out of local-call range of this node soon and it would be
terrific if I could set up my own node when I get elsewhere...

I do NOT want to lose contact with the Net!!!

I know of at least 3 more if the sources were available.

I've used UUPC 1.0 from time to time. It's a but primitive
and has bugs. I gather there's a Un*x-like upgrade about to
be unleashed on an unsuspecting world, including smail.

The big work is porting News/rn etc. It would be nice to know
of diffs/patches to news 2.11, or if the people doing news 3.0
will be involved in some way to help maintain version stuff like
	kermit is...
