Last thing I saw about THOR in EE Times (about two weeks ago) said that they could only be written forty or so times. We need it to be hundreds of thousands of times for a general purpose file system. With only forty, a new WORM-style filesystem will still be required. -- -- -- uunet!sugar!karl, +1 713 274 5184

EE Times a couple of weeks ago had a bit about the THOR drives. It seems a given location can only be written about forty times. This is much less than what they were targeting originally. This is also much less than the hundreds of thousands of rewrites needed for a general purpose file system. Having a maximum of forty rewrites mandates a WORM-style filesystem. -- -- -- uunet!sugar!karl, +1 713 274 5184
