[ Is your line eater a male of female? Mines male and id like to mate it :-) ] Sorry but I lost Leo's original message, this is an addition to the "CBM sucks and is all washed up" thread of messages..... When I went to work for CBM (back in March 85) their stock was less than $5.00 a share (Boy do I wish I would have bought some). They just had their biggest layoff ever the previous October. Then they had a 50% across the board layoff my 3rd week there!! Not to mention I gave up a job 5mins. away from house to drive 45miles (over 60 mins) *1 WAY*. Plus the pay CUT I took to start at Commodore. Im crazy you say. I didn't think so and I still don't! Lets face it CBM is not IBM, that first letter makes a big difference. If I may compare computers and Commodore to baseball, Commodore is the Balt. Orioles of computers. Their good, they have good players, they have good managers and coaches, but their not going to win the world series. IBM however is the New York Yankess of computers, they have good players, good managers and coaches, most likley none better than the Orioles. So why do you hear of the Yankees all time, why do more baseball fans and non-baseball fans know of the Yankees, not to mention that their team logo is by far the MOST recognizable in the world! The answer? A 5 letter word called "MONEY". Remember the thing Leo said aside from and then he went on to list all the things that can be done with money? Ill admit that CBM has had some bad ad's for the Amiga in the past (like the dead baby posters). But things are 400% better now, CBM still doesn't have alot of money to spend on ad's, but when they do it is spent on the places where CBM can get its largest return on the dollar. Lets face it some of the tv shows and events that Apple and IBM sponser do not exactly attract rocket scientists or corporate computer buyers as their viewers! So relax, step back a few paces and take a look at the whole picture. I think youll see that things are geting better and that we do have a future. Well thats my $.02 worth. Oh yea for those who just have to know why I left CBM when I love it so much, it was so that I could be closer to home and my wife & daughter. A damn hard decision, but one im happy with (for now ;-) -- Dan "Sneakers" Schein {alegra|amiga|rutgers|uunet}!cbmvax!heimat!sneakers Sneakers Computing 2455 McKinley Ave West Lawn PA 19609 Call: BERKS AMIGA BBS 24 Hrs - 3/12/2400 Baud Disclaimer: Any opinions expressed are 40 Meg -=- 215/678-7691 those of Sneakers Computing Of course heimat is an Amiga, doesn't everyone run UUCP & UseNet on an Amiga?
