I have been reading through comp.sys.atari.st to see what the competition has been up to. I has made me realize how lucky we are to have CATS. If you read the articles in atari.st concerning bugs in their new ROMS, you will see that the Atari technical people have a great deal of contempt for their customers and developers. The level of bitterness and acrimony is simply amazing. Comp.sys.amiga has never come close, even in its worst periods. As an example, a registered Atari developer aquired the new ROMS. He may have illeagally copied them. The point is, though, is that, when he posts reports of bugs he has found to the Net, Atari is on him like a ton of bricks. The Atari people are calling this guy all sorts of names and accusing him of all sorts of unethical behavior and even threatening, in a veiled sort of way, leagal action against him. Even when having to deal with people complaining about problems with bootleg copies of Beta 1.3, they seem to be more concerned with solving the problem than castigating the person. The development of the Amiga is, fortunately, more of a cooperative effort than an adverserial one. So, thanks CATS for being so polite, reasonable, helpful, and concerned.
