Hi, I've got a serious problem. I was fooling around with switching my mouse with a track ball last night. I have an extension cord for the mouse to save wear on the port. At the time the computer was running. Well what do you think happens, The mouse loses horizontal control. Luckily I have a copy of setmouse so I can use the second port, but The left port seems pretty well shot. I tested the port with a joystick program, and it appears that the right button is dead, this corresponds to pin 4 on the mouse port and horizontal quadrature for the mouse, hence no horizontal control. Looking at the schematics in the amiga manual (I know they are not correct but they are the only ones I have) I see that this corresponds to chip U74 a 74hct157. I think maybe this chip was damaged by static charge. Anyhow, can someone answer several questions: one, is this the right place to look, or could it be something else? two, if this is the problem would it be too hard for me to replace, I've some experience with this sort of stuff but never on my own computer. Thanks in advance for any help. depressedly yours, mark masters <mfm1@lehigh.bitnet>
