[comp.sys.amiga] Hello!! and X-CAD info

harrye@pnet02.cts.com (Harry Evangelou) (09/25/88)

Hi everybody!!

My name is Harry Evangelou and have just been hired as Haitex's X-CAD
product manager. I recently completed two programs for use with X-CAD. A HPGL
to X-CAD converter so that users can bring their symbol databases from other
packages until the DXF reader arrives, and an IFF brush to screenmenu
converter (I call it IFF2XMENU ), so that you can use some of the real nice
drawing packages out there to design your custom menus. I have also spend
some time and created a custom menu template with pan/zoom/dimension/draw
entity/ edit entity/drawing management/keyboard and some more. I think X-CAD
users would like the speed increase (not that X-CAD needed any!) in
productivity by using this menu.
I am also in the process of getting together a developers' kit for third
party applications. If you would like to be in our mailing list for the
developers' kit please contact me at Haitex.

We would also be setting vendor forums on Bix, Compuserve, PeopleLink, and I
will also be from time to time here on Usenet. If there are enough interested
X-CAD users we will also like to set up a users group and start a newsletter.

I am currently working with some high resolution displays for use with X-CAD
through the PC side of the Amiga 2000 (its about time we started using the
multi-processing capability of the Amiga), and we are looking at an AREXX
port.
We are also continuing work to improve X-CAD with 3D capabilities, full
quadrics, ability to project 2D templates into 3d objects, true perspective
views, surface rendering, Hybrid C user definable programming language and a
relational database which runs in real time with the CAD database, for use
with a number of powerful applications, such as bills of materials, stock
control etc..

I am sorry if this message sounded semi-commercial, but mainly I just wanted
to say hello to everyone and to let you know that I, CADvision and Haitex,
will try our best to make the Amiga, the CAD workstation of choice. I know
is a hard work but I'm going to give it the best I've got.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have.

PS. I will be uploading the programs that I mentioned to the networks when I
get my accounts (I have a Bix account, but I'll be waiting till I get the
new one). If someone does not have access to any of the networks he/she may
receive the programs by sending a blank disk with a SASE (make sure you
include enough postage) to the address above.
